Institute of Texan Cultures Folklife Festival

Scarlet and I had a blast at the Institute of Texan Cultures 37th annual Folklife Festival.  This three day event is a celebration of all the differant ethnicities that have found a home in Texas.  Through food, dance, and exhibits the diversity of Texas is celebrated.  Scarlet and I enjoyed watching treaditional folk dance from Germany, Philapeans, Turkey, China, and Native American.  We sampled Philiapeano eggrolls and noodles, Lebonese shish-ka-bobs, Polish dumpligs, Wendish sandwiches, Greek Backlava, and Mexican Aqua Frescas. Scarlet enjoyed the percussion petting zoo where she got to try her hand at all kinds of fun and unusual percusion instruments. There was so much to do I wish we had gotten the three day pass. I can’t wait for next year!

Mazatlan

What better way to celebrate graduation than a trip to Mazatlan Mexico.  Our stay at the Emerald Bay Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan was incredible.  The grounds were relaxing and the pool was perfect for lounging at…which I managed to do for three days.  The other three days were spent in the city.  Right on the pacific coast, Mazatlan was full of great food, friendly people, and historic architecture.   My favorite part though was getting an chance to practice my Spanish!  These photos are just a taste…
